Barca have never received Messi offer- Bartomeu

Barcelona have told La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid they are prepared to activate Antoine Griezmann's release clause worth €100 million (£88 million), according to Helena Condis of Cadena Cope (h/t Cope, via Sports Illustrated's 90Min).

The Atletico CEO said the club's stance was very clear.

I'm sorry but I think we have to be cautious about players who don't play for us.

Last December Atletico said they reported Barca to Federation Internationale de Football Association for making an illegal approach for Griezmann, after the Catalan club's director of institutional relations Guillermo Amor appeared to make public a meeting between Bartomeu and the player's family. A few months ago, I personally expressed to Barcelona's president that our player isn't for sale nor are we going to sell him.

Marin added that Bartomeu's comments about Griezmann in the build-up to the Europa League final between Atletico and Marseille on 16 May showed an "absolute lack of respect". "Enough is enough. I hope this statement serves its objective and that us Atlético fans can enjoy this moment and prepare ourselves for a final like we should".

"I let [Bartomeu] know his inappropriate conduct was against the integrity of the competition, especially as we've been competing for the title and Barcelona have been continuously pressuring one of the most important players in our squad".

The Frenchman is wanted by the Catalan club and a few other top European clubs since he has revealed that he is open to leaving his current club at the end of this season.

Antoine Griezmann could have the ultimate determination over a possible transfer to Barcelona, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed.

"I saw Griezmann one day on holiday".

"We are fighting and trying to have more income to reduce the debt we have", Cerezo told Marca.

Griezmann was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer before he committed his future to Atletico. "You can not talk about players who play at other clubs".

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has urged his players not to ease up with his team on the verge of making history as he wants to foster a competitive habit at the Camp Nou.
