Whilst in the process of replacement, the worker has clarified the matter and said that the Face ID's True Depth camera along with also the telephoto camera lens in the back are linked: "I had been speaking to the Genius Bar guy and he explained that the cameras are linked".

Apple is aware of a bug that affects some iPhone microphones during calls, according to reports. The lenses differ on what they do.

This new support document from Apple to the service centres has been acquired by the folks at 9to5mac, which explains that the employees should first run a diagnosis to check whether the customer's Face ID issues could be resolved with a rear camera fix. A faulty Face ID has reportedly been known to prompt the message, "Face ID is not available, try again later".

Late last week, it came to light that Apple has asked its Authorized Service Providers to fix iPhone 7 series phones with disabled microphones (caused by iOS 11.3 or later updates). The wide angle did those who worked and is joined to the front-facing camera. The brand says this is being done to provide the best customer experience. Apple might also acknowledge the problem publicly at some point. It's not easy to speculate as it could be a software issue or a hardware issue.

Apple fixed some issues in its next iOS 11.3.1 update, though some issues persisted.

There is no word if Apple would charge the users to resolve the issue if a unit is out of the warranty period. Surprisingly, models like iPhone 8 and iPhone X that have been repaired with genuine Apple displays were unable to adjust brightness automatically.

The document, however, doesn't explain the issue in detail. While two of them is expected to feature OLED screens, the third one is said to feature a LCD screen and is said to be the affordable one in the trio. Now it seems that the tide is turning as the most expensive phone was the world's best-selling smartphone in the first-quarter of 2018, according to Strategy Analytics.

That iPhone X owner said that a Genius Bar worker had told them that the cameras are connected.
