The 46-year-old then said: "We're going to go to YouTube".

During a conference call on Tesla's Q1 earnings in 2017, Musk said say the SUV would be coming in 2019 or 2020, and would be built in a new factory. Next. Boring bonehead questions are not cool.

But on Wednesday, Musk said manufacturing has actually been improved by taking some robots off the assembly lines. Sorry. These questions are so dry.

Tesla said it hit a production rate of 2,270 Model 3's per week in April, and it was able to churn out 2,000 or more cars for three straight weeks - finally reaching a milestone it hoped to hit previous year. "I'm not here to convince you to buy our stock".

He then took several questions in a row about plans for a self-driving vehicle network and other long-term projects from the host of a YouTube channel focused on investing, praising the questions as not boring.

The company said in a note to investors on Wednesday that Model 3 production was on the rise and that it expected profitability in the second half, under generally accepted accounting principles. This should set us up for Model 3 production of 3000 to 4000 per week next month.

The proposal came ahead of the company's annual meeting that is scheduled for June 5.

Tesla began the quarter with $3.96 billion in cash and equivalents, but that fell to $3.22 billion by quarter's end. Revenue exceeded estimates of $3.28 billion.

Speaking about Tesla's increasing cash flow problem, he said: "I'm feeling quite confident about hitting positive cash flow in Q3".

And if more manufacturing hangups are in store for Tesla, the company could be headed for a cash crunch. Just two weeks ago, he tweeted at The Economist magazine that there would be no capital raising this year. That's Tesla's first mass market auto with a starting sticker price of $35,000, and its success is considered key to the company's business model.

During a conference call with leading business analysts, Mr Musk interrupted a question on the firm's capital requirements with "Excuse me, excuse me". Toward the finish of the central quarter, there were more than 450,000 bookings for the Model 3, which as we as a whole know has had a moderate rollout.

Tesla said it produced 2,270 Model 3s per week in the last week of April. That is a 26.3% revenue increase quarterly compared to its reports past year and also, slightly higher than the estimated $3.22 billion in sales projected by analysts. After the halt, however, Tesla exhibited a boost in production, ultimately hitting a pace of 2,020 Model 3 per week during the final week of the first quarter. Analysts had expected a loss of $3.58 per share, according to Thomson Reuters.

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated the amount of Tesla's cash burn last quarter.
