October 2016: The Associated Press reports that Greitens' campaign had obtained an electronic spreadsheet of top donors to The Mission Continues as he began his campaign in 2015.

January 10: Shortly after delivering his State of the State speech to the Legislature, Greitens admits to having an extramarital affair with his St. Louis hairdresser in 2015.

A St. Louis judge on Thursday rejected a bid to dismiss a criminal invasion of privacy charge against Missouri Governor Eric Greitens stemming from a sex scandal involving an extramarital affair.

A spokeswoman for The Mission Continues says Gov. Eric Greitens had access to its donor list as CEO of the charity but did not have permission to later use the list for political purposes.

A spokeswoman for Gardner said St. Louis prosecutors met with officials from the attorney general's office Monday and are "reviewing the evidence" related to The Mission Continues donor list.

On Tuesday, Hawley held a press conference regarding Greiten's use of a nonprofit organization donor list from The Mission Continues in St. Louis without permission.

Hawley says it's up to the St. Louis circuit attorney to decide whether to charge Greitens with a crime. The AP found that Greitens' campaign had raised almost $2 million from donors who previously gave significant amounts to The Mission Continues.

Legislative leaders said the potential of a second felony charge was too much for the state to bear.

Greitens responded on Twitter, saying, quote, "I will not be resigning the governor's office".

When Kendrick was asked how he thought a sit-down between himself and the governor would go, he said, "At this point, you know, the report has been released, the bipartisan group, there were many attorneys sitting in that room (who) found the witnesses to be credible".

April 2017: Greitens agrees to pay a small fine the Missouri Ethics Commission for failing to report that his gubernatorial campaign had, in fact, received the donor list of The Mission Continues in 2015. Mr. Greitens however used that list for political fundraising. Claire McCaskill and has faced an onslaught of Democratic ads trying to link him to Greitens.

Greitens initially denied to the AP in 2016 that he had used the donor list for his campaign. "If such investigation or prosecution is to be conducted, it must be conducted by a court-appointed special prosecutor independent of the AGO".
