Both Ganga and Singh had participated in a rally on March 1 after the crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested the nephew of a caretaker of a "Devisthan" (temple) in connection with the kidnapping and rape of the little girl. Shashi Singh, allegedly lured the victim to BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on the day of alleged crime on the promise of providing a job, news agency PTI reported.

Meanwhile, the CBI also detained Shashi Singh, a woman aide of an accused lawmaker who allegedly took the rape survivor to the BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh on the day of the crime. Several lawyers of the Jammu Bar Association had even prevented the investigating officers from filing the charge-sheet in Kathua district court last week. The 55-year-old father of the Unnao rape survivor died in the police custody after he was brutally thrashed by Atul Singh and his people.

"BJP leaders have mastered the art of extending state protection to rapists, shaming the victim and her family, defending the accused and crying conspiracy.And the Adityanath government has perfected this art to the hilt", Surjewala alleged. Three cases have been filed against the BJP legislator.

It also took repeated demands from the opposition parties, commentators and activists for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence on the two recent incidents that have caused an unending shame for the country globally. The 17-year-old's mother, who is the complainant in the case, has alleged that Shashi was present in the courtyard of the house when the MLA raped her daughter.

TNIE is in the possession of a copy of the medical report that was prepared after her age-determination test in June 2017, when, she has alleged, that she was raped on June 11, 2017.

"The BJP wants justice for the victim and there are no two opinions on that". She also thanked media for taking up her battle that so far was a "lonely and losing battle". Her strong views and attitude to take on any leader in the party is said to be worrying many.
