(Web Desk) - Nobel Prize victor Malala Yousafzai and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Chairman Imran Khan are among the world's most admired people, according to an online survey conducted by YouGov UK.

Jolie, also a film director and UNHCR special envoy, is followed by Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth II, Hillary Clinton, Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai, Angela Merkel, Taylor Swift and Madonna in top 10 of the 20 most admired women.

Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie top the lists of the most admired men and women in the world - Gates has been #1 every time the survey's been conducted.

Football stalwarts Ronaldo and Messi have claimed the 10th and 11th spots respectively, surpassing Pope Francis at number 16 of the men's list.

Current U.S. President Donald Trump went up in the rankings from past year to take the 17th spot on the list.

The survey was conducted in people from 35 countries and interviewed more than 37,000 people.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at the unveiling of their official portraits at Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in February.

So there you have it, from actors and businessmen to politicians and talk show hosts, these are the names of the most admired people in the world. In the top five men are Barack Obama, Jackie Chan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese business investor and philanthropist Jack Ma.

Entertainers dominate the female top twenty, with 14 of the most admired women being actresses, singers or TV presenters. These nominations were then used to compile a list of the 20 men and 20 women who received the most nominations and were nominated in at least four countries. It is a list of public figures which the people all around look up to. For instance, globally in 19 countries Obama was ranked 1, while Bill Gates only managed to take up the 6th spot.

All of the surveys were conducted online, and in numerous countries the internet penetration is low to the point where the sample can only be said to be representative to the online population.
