Microsoft Security Essentials will replace the Windows Live OneCare. The application offers antivirus protection and antyspyware. Its greatest advantages are according to manufacturer's clean and simple interface and low hardware requirements (MSE looks less computer resources than competing commercial software). Alan Parker, general manager in Microsoft's section antymalware, asked about the differences between the antivirus, and products such as Symantec or McAffe, said that the Security Essentials, though provides a tool for scanning and treatment system, especially trying to protect your computer from getting infected.

The application is equipped with the "Dynamic Signature Service" which will communicate with Microsoft servers. If it detects suspicious program, but will not be able to classify it, will send a message to the server with the request identification. The server may in turn ask for a sample of code that can return the antivirus (in this case the user is asked for permission to send information).

Microsoft's antivirus can be installed on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 - from a single subject. You must be a legal copy of "windows".
